Great people are the driving force behind great business. That's why at Allstate we pride ourselves in hiring and nurturing the best people at all levels of our organisation.
Where has been your favorite travel destination and why?
FMG: My favourite place in the entire world is Prague in the Czech Republic. Everything about the place is just magical. The architecture is absolutely amazing, I've been a few times and each time have found something new. The food is amazing, and most importantly the beer is cheap and plentiful!
Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
FMG: Outside of work I'm actually a musician, I play guitar as a hobby, but I'm also the lead singer and synth player in a rock band, we gig regularly and there is nothing like the feeling of standing up on that stage and baring a part of your soul to the crowd
What show are you currently binge-watching?
FMG: I'm currently watching a Netflix show called "Blown Away" — it's an elimination style show where a group of glass blowers compete for a residency in a prestigious Museum of Glass. It's amazing watching what they come up with every episode. Think "Bake Off" but with glass.
What's your idea of a perfect day?
FMG: For me a perfect day would be a lovely warm day spent in the outdoors with my partner and my dogs, followed by a nice meal and a few drinks outside on the patio listening to my favourite music.
What skill would you most like to learn?
FMG: Personally — I would like to be able to produce and mix music. I'm very new to the recording music game and there is a lot to learn. That and juggling. Professionally — There are so many things I want to learn, and I am always trying to better myself. It's hard to put a finger on just one thing but if it could be anything I'd like to know how to code, just so that I can understand the inner workings of the vast amounts of programs we have here at Allstate. The great thing about Allstate is that we have the resources to learn all those skills if we want to.
What's your most-used productivity hack?
FMG: I love a good list, I have a Onenote open at all times with my to do list that I add to/mark off throughout the week. I put a deadline and a t-shirt size beside each task so that I can plan out my days accordingly.
What piece of advice would you give yourself at the beginning of your career?
FMG: The only thing holding you back is yourself. If you don't go out of your comfort zone then you aren't bettering yourself.
