As a Data Engineer within Allstate Northern Ireland's Marketing organisation, Keva McGarry transforms complex data into actionable insights that help drive smarter marketing investment decisions and deliver greater value for customers. Beyond this technical role, Keva leads volunteering initiatives that connect employees with local charities and community projects, reflecting Allstate's commitment to making a positive impact through both innovation and social responsibility.
Can you tell us about your role and the impact your work has on customers or colleagues?
I am a Data Engineer for the Strategic Analytics and Growth Engineering team within the Allstate Marketing Department. Essentially, I work magic on data that enables decisions to be made, on where to spend Marketing budgets effectively. By making the most efficient use of our Marketing budget, we can lower costs for our customers, helping to ensure they get the best value for money.
What's a moment in your role where you felt you made a meaningful difference?
Aside from my role crunching data, I lead the Volunteering at Allstate NI. Part of this role is finding opportunities for our staff to make a difference in our local communities and environment. I get a lot of the positive feedback from colleagues about how volunteering has lifted their spirits and reinforced their teamwork (which is important in a hybrid working world). On top of that, the charities and organisations we help, tell us the positive impact our staff have had on their projects. Seeing the difference that our volunteering makes, really brightens my day.
What motivates you to bring your best to work each day at Allstate?
I work with a brilliant group of people who are all highly driven individuals, and often collab with each other to ensure we are delivering the best work possible. Our leadership provide excellent guidance but also know when to allow us to lead the way with ideas and come up with innovative solutions. The opportunity to collaborate and be creative makes me excited for each day.
How have you grown or developed since joining Allstate?
What I enjoy most about the company is the strong focus on learning and development. Technology is always changing, and the company does a great job of providing training and encouraging people to explore new tools and technologies. I've always felt supported to learn new things, build my skills, and develop my strengths. There are also plenty of opportunities to get involved in different areas of the business, which helps keep the work interesting and opens up new opportunities for growth.
What makes Allstate a great place to build a career in your experience?
There is so much to it. I've mentioned my interesting job role, the opportunities for learning and using the latest technologies, my supportive team and leadership, but I haven't mentioned all the 'extra curricular' activities! We have Connection Days, frequent food and drink socials, summer parties, family fun days, department trips and other fun activities. There are many different engagement groups and networks, supporting all employees through life and also encouraging them to pursue things they are passionate about. The volunteering I mentioned earlier falls under the 'Force for Good' employee group, that focuses on improving the world through charitable actions. This all makes for a very fulfilling working environment!
