Can you tell us a bit about your background and the path that led you into digital product management at Allstate?
I've spent over 13 years at Allstate, growing my career across several roles that ultimately led me into digital product management. I started in frontline technical support, where I built a strong foundation in understanding customer needs, operational pain points, and how systems truly operate in real world conditions. A pivotal moment came in 2018 when I stepped into the a leadership development programme at Allstate. This was my first experience in operational leadership and marked a meaningful shift from helping individual users to enabling entire teams. It helped me build confidence in guiding others, influencing outcomes, and thinking more strategically — skills that continue to show up strongly in my product practice today.
From there, transitioning into product felt like a natural next step. Moving from supporting processes to designing and driving them allowed my frontline experience, leadership exposure, and business understanding to converge. Today, as a Digital Product Manager within Claims, I lead strategy, self service, and technology-driven solutions that focus on delivering measurable business impact while improving customer and adjuster experiences.
How do you connect Allstate's broader business goals to the day to day product decisions you make as a DPM?
I'm very intentional about grounding product decisions in Allstate's broader objectives; whether that's efficiency, customer experience, or scalability. Having come from frontline and operational roles, I naturally look at problems through both a user and business lens.
On a day to day basis, this means asking: How does this decision reduce friction, create clarity, create value across the process? I prioritize work that aligns to real operational outcomes, not just feature delivery. Data, customer insights, and business context are always key inputs, helping me balance short term needs with long term strategy.
Can you share an example of how early discovery or customer insights shaped a product outcome you're particularly proud of?
Throughout my career, early discovery has consistently shaped better outcomes. My background in technical support and operations trained me to ask "why" early and often, especially before solutions are locked in. Many of the solutions I'm most proud of came from spending time upfront understanding inconsistencies, user workflows, and areas for improvement; often highlighted through close collaboration with teams and stakeholders. That early insight allows us to design solutions that not only solve the immediate issue but also prevent recurrence and reduce downstream noise. Seeing those insights translate into smoother experiences for both customers and internal teams is incredibly rewarding.
When trade offs are unavoidable, how do you decide what delivers the most meaningful value in the long term?
Trade offs are inevitable, so I focus on clarity and intent. I weigh decisions based on impact, risk, and sustainability; always asking which option creates the most value over time, not just the fastest win, although those are sometimes necessary too. I'm comfortable challenging status quo solutions when they don't serve the bigger picture, and I rely heavily on collaboration, data, and transparent communication to align on the right path forward. Long term value often comes from solving the right problem well, even if it requires tougher conversations or additional upfront effort.
Looking back on your career journey, how did you get into digital product management, and what mindset shift has had the biggest influence on how you operate in your role today?
The biggest mindset shift for me was moving from supporting work to owning outcomes. Earlier in my career, success looked like resolving issues effectively. In product, success is about designing systems and experiences that prevent issues in the first place and continuously evolve with the business. That shift from reactive to strategic, from task focused to outcome-driven — has fundamentally shaped how I operate today. I approach product management with a strong sense of ownership, curiosity, and accountability. I stay energized by challenge, continuous learning, and environments that push growth — which is also reflected in my passion for coaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu outside of work. That balance of discipline, learning, and mentorship influences how I lead, collaborate, and deliver value at Allstate every day.
